Arriola is the first in-league transfer that FC Dallas has done since late 2019 when they acquired Fafa Picault from the Philadelphia Union.
The presence of Arriola is expected to bring more leadership in the locker room. As FC Dallas pushes to become a major development club for young players, his experience will be invaluable for the team. Dallas has filled the United States National Team with several players, having a staple on the national team like Arriola should continue to help the young up-and-coming players as they strive to reach the next step.
Arriola is already familiar with one player in Dallas, one Jesus Ferreira. The two have been teammates on the USMNT. As a former assistant coach on the national team, Nico Estevez has also worked with Arriola previously.
FC Dallas reported in their article that Arriola will join the team after the World Cup Qualifiers, which should be around early February. The U.S will play three games in the next eight days, starting tomorrow against El Salvador at 6:00 PM. They'll face Canada on Sunday and Honduras next Wednesday, February the 3rd.
