FC Dallas announced two moves today. The first is the signing of draftee Lucas Bartlett, making him an official member of the roster. Bartlett was selected with the 6th overall pick of the 2022 MLS Superdraft. He has a guaranteed one year contract for 2022 and three option years following. Bartlett will more than likely be used for depth, assuming that he doesn't outplay Matt Hedges, Jose Martinez, or Nkosi Tafari. Unlike other draft picks in the past, Bartlett is unlikely to be a player for the future. He is already 24 years old, which is older than typical draft picks. It'll be interesting to see how or if he adapts to the MLS level.
The second is the acquisition of an international spot from the Seattle Sounders for $250,000 in GAM. This puts Dallas at 10 international slots. Buzz Carrick of 3rd Degree tweeted out the list of who is using an international spot with Dallas, and even with Alan Valesco added into the mix, this leaves Dallas with a free spot.
