FC Dallas announced today that goalkeeper Maarten Paes will be joining FC Dallas permanently. Up until now, he had been with Dallas on a short-term loan from FC Utrecht of Eredivisie, the loan was originally set to end in July of this year. He will be on a guaranteed contract until 2025, with club options for 2026 and 2027.
Paes earned the starting spot back in preseason after veteran goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer suffered an injury and since then has been a main piece for Nico Estevez this season. He's played fourteen games out of sixteen in MLS. He didn't take the field for Dallas during their short U.S Open Cup run, as Nico opted for rotation in the tournament, but he was on the bench during those matches.
Paes is only 24 years old and will continue to grow and improve his game for Dallas.
