Saturday afternoon, Columbus will welcome the Seattle Sounders to Lower.com Field for a 2020 MLS Cup Rematch. Columbus comes into the game on awful form, while Seattle comes into into the game on a four match unbeaten streak, including a 6-2 thumping of their rivals, Portland.
Last Meeting
The last time these two teams met was at Historic Crew Stadium in December 12, 2020 in the 2020 MLS Cup. Columbus came out victorious by a 3-0 scoreline after goals from Lucas Zelerayan and Derrick Etienne.
Injury Report
OUT: Artur (R Hip), Marlon Hairston (L Thigh), Perry Kitchen (L Knee), Aidan Morris (L Knee), Milton Valenzuela (R Thigh), Josh Williams (L Ankle), Gyasi Zardes (L Thigh)
Questionable: Luis Diaz (R Shoulder)
Projected XI
Keys To The Match
Get Off To A Fast Start
Columbus has failed to score first in their 5 game losing streak, and have failed to score in 2 of those games. Columbus, without lead man Gyasi Zardes, are going to have to rely on Lucas Zelerayan and Kevin Molino to pick up the pieces and score some goals.
Mistakes At The Back
Columbus has been error prone this season at the back, especially during their five match losing skid. If Columbus wants to have any chance at beating Seattle, they need to clean up the mistakes and make sure they keep Ruidiaz in check.
Prediction
There just is not a way I see Columbus pulling this off, especially without Gyasi Zardes. Columbus will have to have multiple guys step up, and I am just not sure if that will happen. Seattle beats Columbus to extend the Crews losing streak to six matches, with a score of 2-0.
