Columbus Drops 2-0 Decision To NYCFC

Columbus took a trip to historic Yankee Stadium for a matchup with the defending MLS Cup Champions. It did not turn out the way they wanted, however. Columbus left Yankee Stadium with a 2-0 loss and still have not won a game on the road this season. Lets get into the match.

"They are very talented, in every position", head coach Caleb Porter said following the match about the talent that NYCFC has in their squad. "Their front four or five are scary talented."

NYCFC first got onto the board in the ninth minute, with a shot from Talles Magno that got past Eloy Room. The game would be all NYCFC from there, as Columbus would fail to record a shot on goal.

"We lost to a very good team today, and they punished us for a couple of goals today." Porter would talk about how they will watch the film, and correct the mistakes, especially those that occurred that allowed the second goal to happen. "I thought we were up for it. Lucas had a chance before they scored [the first goal], and they were giving us a little bit of trouble down our left side."

NYCFC star forward Valentin Castellanos would add a second for the Blues, and that would be all the goals scored.

Takeaways

Few Shots On Target, Again.

Once again, Columbus failed to get shots on target. In fact, they failed to have ANY on target against NYCFC. You can not win games if you can't get shots on target. This is something that the Crew have struggled with all season. We will see if they can fix it against a top western conference team in LAFC this Saturday afternoon.

Aidan Morris Should Be A Forgone Starter

Listen, Artur is a great player, and Aidan Morris missed last season with a torn ACL. But, when Aidan Morris has played this season, the team has looked more compact and more balanced in the midfield with him there. A midfield of Nagbe, Morris and Zelerayan is a top MLS midfield, and something that should be a thing from here on out.
