Matchday 2 is just around the corner, and St. Louis is absolutely buzzing in preparation for its first-ever home MLS match! It’s been a great week as we’ve rewatched highlights and analyzed tactics from City’s massively entertaining 3-2 victory on the road against Austin FC. Before the festivities kicking off this afternoon, join me to recap what’s been a great week for St. Louis City SC.
It’s Coming Home
Starting us off with some MLS content. The journey to MLS ended on February 27; a new journey has begun. But it’s still worth a look back to understand where we came from. Especially for non-St. Louis City supporters, this is a great read to understand the new kids on the block.
St. Louis Legend Shares Thoughts
Not quite a “read”, but this interview with native son Tim Ream is well worth it, courtesy of Topbin90. Among other topics, Ream shares his thoughts about St. Louis City SC. No commentary from me, I’ll let him do the talking for himself.
Hometown Pipeline
Let’s keep this momentum going - yet another St. Louis talent from CITY2 signed a senior contract this week. Goalkeeper Michael Creek joined the ranks of St. Louis-bred players to elevate their careers with St. Louis City SC. Lutz is well on his way to delivering on his promises to this city.
Our Opponents
Amid all the fanfare and celebration coming on Saturday, let’s not forget there’s a match to be played as well. My colleague here at the MLS Now Podcast blog previews what we can expect from Charlotte as City chases its next victory.
A Toast
A personal favorite of mine - Roger Bennett, one half of Men in Blazers, raises his Budweiser (what would be more appropriate?) to St. Louis City SC’s high-flying debut victory. As we officially shift focus to Charlotte, let’s cheers to our first win one last time.
See you all at CITYPARK tomorrow!
