What's up everyone! This is Bryce, and I'm excited to join the MLS Now Podcast team to bring all news, information, and takes on Atlanta United. Hopefully the beginning of my blogs will cover the turnaround of the Five Stripes after a disappointing 2020 season.
A little about myself: I am currently a sophomore at the University of Delaware, studying under a Computer Engineering major and Statistical Data Analytics minor. I have spent my entire 20 years growing up in Southern Maryland. Now you might ask... why aren't you a DC United supporter? While living just outside of our nation's capital, as a kid it was only about the Washington Capitals and Nationals for me. I had no interest in watching soccer since it took up most of my life playing. The path of how I became a fan is actually quite interesting - my first (American) football game in person as a kid was in 2007 at College Park, where Maryland faced off against #8 Boston College, led by Matt Ryan. Although Maryland won in a thrilling 42-35 finish, Ryan was electric and I determined wherever he was drafted I would follow. When Arthur Blank announced in 2014 that MLS awarded Atlanta an expansion franchise, I found this as a perfect opportunity to choose my team and follow the league more closely. While I couldn't get myself to fully convert to all Atlanta sports, I am a proud Falcon and Atlanta United fan!
There is going to be a lot of upcoming news regarding transfers, CONCACAF Champions League, and the start of training camp under newly-welcomed manager Gabriel Heinze and staff soon... so be on the lookout for all of that! There's a lot to look forward to here.
Vamos ATL!
